Works in progress

Progress is a beautiful thing. I'm slowly but surely making my way through my list of DIY wedding projects.

First up - Hangers are complete.

Next Pomander Balls for Reserved Rows at Church:
1 down... 5 more to go ;-/

For the flowers on the hangers I used a tealight to melt the edges of a polyester fabric and then hot glued them together and then glued them directly onto the hanger.

Still have lots more to go, and will follow up with a more detailed tutorial later on.

On another note, wedding items have officially taken over my office..... *sigh*

Bride hangers almost complete

So the first DIY project for the wedding is complete. I finally got wire names to look acceptable - I know they aren't perfect - for my me, my mom, my mother in law and bridesmaids.  For basically I first attempt, I think they came out pretty good. I used 14 gauge aluminum sculpture wire and watched tutorials on youtube along with scouring etsy for examples. Hopefully, this weekend, I'll get to borrow a drill from someone so I can attach them to the wooden hangers I bought at Target. Below is a pic so far. The sides look a little wonky because I left a lot of slack for attaching. Also, I'm not the best photographer so some look crooked, but they are definitely straight.
Not too bad right?

I"ll post the finished project when I'm done.  Next up - vacation and then working on pomander balls for the church pews during the ceremony.

OK.. so I lied - this time I'm really going to start again

So it looks like I lied back in January. I haven't been posting as much as I would like. I've been crazy busy.  We've been shorthanded at work so I've been pulling extra hours on top of wedding planning craziness and squeezing in the gym when I can. So I haven't had all that much time to post.

So where to begin? Wedding plans are coming along nicely. We picked a venue. I bought a dress and we have pretty much all of vendors confirmed with the exception of a limo company. I don't know why I'm procrastinating on that one, but I just haven't really gotten around to it. I've started creating name hangers and they are coming out okay... I still need more practice.  I have a list a mile long of DIY projects to complete. I should use this blog to hold me accountable. Budgeting for the wedding as not been as fun either. Man, these things are expensive and everyone wants cash or check only!

Diet/Exercise plan is progressing. So far, down about 20 lbs since October. I've been taking spin and TRX classes mainly, along with some yoga and pilates in between. Also, I have been trying to limit my intake of junk food. However, when I'm stressed due to work, my diet goes out the window, so I have to work on that a bit.

I haven't really read anything fantastic as of late. I have some good books in line for summer reading. I'll keep you posted of any good ones.

That's about it for now. Thanks for stopping by!

It's the new year and I'm blogging again!

I've been lazy and haven't posted much of anything lately. It's a new year, so as one of my resolutions, I'm going to start trying to keep up with fairly regular postings. I have all sorts of exciting things going on.  We recently got engaged, so I'm in the process of wedding planning (which by the way -- so expensive!), so I'll be updating with the progress of that. I have other types of goodies in store for this year too: new recipes (healthy & fast) and craft ideas (using Pinterest for wedding planning has led me to all sorts of DIY heaven). Also, book reviews! Wasn't able to read much towards the end of last year, but hopefully that will change in coming months.
